At Bunsho, we prioritize data privacy and transparency. This Privacy Policy details how we handle information collected through our website interface and our desktop application.

1. Information we collect

Account & contact data

We collect your email address, name and profile picture when you sign in to the desktop app to use its AI features.

Local app data & manuscript text

Your manuscript text, story models, and character timelines are parsed locally on your own machine, and transmitted to our service only when you run something that requires it, such as a story-aware continuity check. We do not claim ownership over this data, and we do not store your manuscript on our servers once a request has been answered.

Technical usage metrics

We collect standard system parameters, such as operating system type, application build version, IP addresses, and crash reports, strictly to optimize the performance of the desktop interface and fix software bugs.

2. How we use collected data

Operating the product

To operate, patch, and maintain the Bunsho desktop-first experience.

Running evaluations

To route the necessary contextual prompts to integrated AI models so that continuity and plot hole evaluations can run.

Account communications

To dispatch critical account alerts, billing notices, or system update notifications. We do not use your writing to train models, ours or anyone else's, and we do not sell, rent, or trade your information.

3. Artificial intelligence and third-party sub-processors

Bunsho utilizes AI capabilities to build story models and detect contradictions. Any manuscript data processed through our AI pipelines is transmitted securely to verified third-party cloud infrastructure sub-processors. These sub-processors are contractually prohibited from utilizing your inputs, proprietary ideas, or draft manuscripts to train generic public models.

4. Payment and billing processors

We do not collect, store, or transmit your credit card or financial account data on our servers. All payment details are securely processed by our Merchant of Record, Polar Software, Inc., in accordance with their own privacy framework. We receive from Polar only what is required to apply a purchase to your account: an order reference, the plan or pack purchased, and your subscription status. We retain a record of your credit balance and the operations those credits paid for.

5. Your data rights

You have the right to request a complete copy of any data linked to your account, to have it corrected, or to request total account and data deletion at any time. Email our privacy operations contact below and we will action it directly. Deleting your Bunsho account does not affect the manuscript files stored on your own computer, which remain yours.
