Bunsho says my last changes could not be saved
What the warning means, what Bunsho does about it, and how to protect your words.
Updated October 15, 2026
A warning appears above the editor: Your last changes could NOT be saved. Bunsho will keep retrying. Sometimes a reason is shown in brackets.
Why it happens
Bunsho keeps your project in a folder on your computer. If it cannot write to that folder, for example because the disk is full or the folder is on a drive that was disconnected, the save fails. Your words are still on screen.
Fix it
- Leave the window open. Do not close Bunsho yet.
- Select all the text in the chapter (⌘A on Mac, Ctrl+A on Windows), copy it (⌘C or Ctrl+C), and paste it into another app such as Notes or Notepad as a backup.
- Read the reason in brackets. If it mentions no space left on the device, free up space on your disk.
- If your project is on an external drive, a USB stick or a cloud-synced folder, make sure it is connected and finished syncing.
- Wait a few seconds. Bunsho retries on its own, first after 2 seconds and then more slowly, and keeps going. Typing also triggers another try.
- When the warning disappears, the save worked.
Careful:If the warning stays, keep your backup copy before you quit. Write to support@bunsho.io with the reason shown in brackets.
