Find a better word with the thesaurus
See word endings and synonyms as you type, and turn the suggestions on or off.
Updated October 16, 2026
While you type, Bunsho can show a short list of words under your cursor. Use it when a word is on the tip of your tongue, or when you want a different one.
Use it
- Type at least three letters of a word, then pause for a moment.
- A list opens under the cursor, in two parts: Completions (words that start the way yours does) and Synonyms (words with a similar meaning).
- Press ↓ and ↑ to move through the list, or click a word.
- Press Enter or Tab to swap in the highlighted word. Press Esc to close the list and keep typing.
Tip:The suggestions need an internet connection: the word you are typing is looked up with Datamuse, a free public word service. Only that word is sent. Offline, the list simply does not appear and you can keep writing. Only plain English letters are looked up.
Turn it off or on
Click Thesaurus at the right end of the editor toolbar. It is highlighted when on. Hover over it to see Disable Thesaurus Autocomplete or Enable Thesaurus Autocomplete. On a narrow window only the book icon shows. Suggestions start switched on.
Thesaurus suggestions are not used in screenplay projects.
