Where your files live
Your book is a folder of plain files on your computer. You choose where it goes.

A Bunsho book is a folder on your computer. Each chapter is a file inside it, readable without Bunsho. There is no hidden database and no copy kept on our servers.
Choose where a new book goes
- Choose File, then New Workspace.
- Pick a place and a name in the window that opens. The window starts in a folder called Bunsho in your home folder, with the name "Untitled Manuscript". Change either.
- Click Create.
Your book is a folder whose name ends in .boworkspace. Chapters are inside its pages folder. Things Bunsho remembers about your story, such as World and checks, are kept in the same folder, so they travel with it.
Open a book from another place
Choose File, then Open Workspace..., and pick the .boworkspace folder.
Move or copy a book
Close the book first (File, then Close Workspace). Then copy or move the whole .boworkspace folder in Finder or File Explorer. Always move the whole folder, not single files.
Prefer a Word file? You can export at any time. See Export your manuscript.
