What a check costs
Checks use credits, and the app shows the cost before you start. Writing never uses credits.
Updated October 15, 2026
Writing in Bunsho is free and never counted. Credits are spent only on deliberate moments: a check, a review, or a Director action. Each one waits for you to click.
Where you see the price first
- Check chapter: the box that opens shows the approximate cost before Check now. See Check a chapter.
- Review N changed chapters: the cost is on the button. See Review only what you changed.
- Run full review, Re-analyze, Try again, Check canon: the cost is on or beside the button.
- Check if fixed: the cost is on the button in the finding view.
- Your first read: the cost is in the window, before Start. See Your first read.
- Director: Plan scene, Write scene, Regenerate and Rewrite this beat each show a price. See Direct a scene.
Costs are written like ~400 credits. The ~ means approximately. If the app cannot work out a price, it shows no number rather than a guess, and some buttons say Price unavailable.
What does not cost anything
- Typing, editing, saving, and exporting.
- Seeing which chapters changed, and the reminders about them.
- Browsing the World tab and reading findings.
- Editing a Director scene card by hand.
If you run out
The button is greyed with Not enough credits, or an Out of credits card appears. It tells you your existing findings were kept. Open billing takes you to your plan, and the card shows how many credits you have left. A Director action that fails for lack of credits says Nothing was charged.
If a price changes
A check will not quietly cost more than the price you were shown. If the price moved, the app asks you again with the updated price.
